All
furnishings can be purchased in a number of different
materials, and sometimes the material you choose can really make a
difference
in the design you are aiming for.
If you
choose the wrong element to introduce into your design,
you’ll be unhappy with
your choice to the point of being uncomfortable rather than relaxed,
especially
in your garden design. For
example, many
people choose to furnish their patio or deck with Adirondack chairs,
but there
are a number of different materials that can be chosen for this patio
furniture. How do
you know what material
is appropriate for your application?
An Adirondack chair will sit comfortably almost
regardless
of the material from which it is fashioned.
However, it may not look proper in the space it occupies
if you choose a
material that doesn’t work well with your theme or the other
design
elements.
For
instance, if you’ve spent
a great deal of time and money on a wooden deck, you probably
won’t want to buy
plastic
Adirondack chairs because they will take away from the
sophisticated,
valuable appearance of the deck.
On
the
other hand, some plastic Adirondack chairs are quite well constructed
and don’t
even look like plastic, making them more appropriate to use.
Adirondack
chairs can also be found in wood, specifically
cedar or teak, which are sturdier and blend in better with high end
patio
décor. In
other words, if you have a
cedar deck, other cedar patio furniture, or pricey garden decorations,
a wooden
Adirondack chair will look better with the rest of your furnishings.
Sometimes, the material is not as important as the quality
of the furniture. It
is entirely
possible to find quality plastic Adirondack chairs that will last
season after
season. However, it
is more likely that
you’ll get more use from a wooden Adirondack chair,
especially cedar and teak,
since these are already weather resistant and other wood can be
weatherized
with treatment.
Whatever choice you make, first consider your current design
elements, and assess whether you have a style that is campy,
sophisticated,
playful, country, or otherwise. This
will be important in choosing the right Adirondack chairs. Also, consider how much
you want to spend,
the amount of use you will get out of them, and how well you will store
them
from the weather. In
the end, you’ll be
able to make the right decision in terms of furnishing your yard with
Adirondack chairs.
